SubTracker

MCP Server

Updated October 2026

SubTracker exposes an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP-capable assistants can read your real subscriptions, spend, and budget directly. Nine read tools are included with every connection. One optional scope lets an assistant add, update, and cancel subscriptions when you ask.

Connect your assistant

Claude.ai

Web app, one-click OAuth

Claude.ai supports OAuth 2.1, so the whole flow happens in a browser popup. No token to copy or paste.

  1. 1Open Claude.ai and click the gear icon (top-right) to open Settings.
  2. 2Click Connectors in the left sidebar, then click + (Add custom connector).
  3. 3Enter a name like "SubTracker" and paste the server URL below.
  4. 4Click Connect. SubTracker opens an authorization page in a new tab.
  5. 5Choose a workspace (personal or a team) and click Allow.
  6. 6Done. The connector appears as active in Settings and Claude can now read your data in any conversation.
To revoke access later: Settings → Connectors → SubTracker → Disconnect.
Teams and Enterprise: An admin can add the connector org-wide. Each team member then connects with their own SubTracker account.

What your assistant can ask

These nine tools are available with every connection, no extra permissions needed.

list_subscriptions

Every tracked subscription, filterable by status, category, or payment method. Returns id, name, price, billing cycle, next billing date, and notes.

search_subscriptions

Find subscriptions by name. Partial matches work, so "net" returns "Netflix".

spend_summary

Total recurring spend, monthly and yearly, broken down by category or billing cycle.

upcoming_renewals

What is about to charge in the next N days, and how much.

get_budget_status

Your budget versus what you are actually spending, overall and per category.

get_cached_insights

The AI savings insights already generated for your account.

find_savings_candidates

Concrete opportunities to cut spend: trials ending, duplicate services, annual-billing switches, price increases.

list_categories

All categories in use across your subscriptions, with subscription counts and any custom labels or emoji you have set.

get_spending_history

Month-by-month recurring spend for the past N months, reconstructed from when subscriptions started and were cancelled.

Try asking

"What is my monthly subscription spend?""Which subscriptions renew in the next week?""Am I over budget this month?""Where could I save money on subscriptions I already pay for?""Do I have a Netflix subscription?""How has my spending changed over the last 6 months?"

Optional: let it manage subscriptions

Granting the manage subscriptions scope adds five write tools. For OAuth connections, the scope is shown on the authorization screen and you can leave it off. For PAT tokens, it is a checkbox when you generate the token, off by default.

add_subscription

Directly add a subscription to your dashboard. The assistant always confirms the name and price with you before calling this.

update_subscription

Update any field on an existing subscription: name, price, billing cycle, next billing date, category, or notes. Only the fields you specify change.

cancel_subscription

Mark a subscription as cancelled in SubTracker. The assistant will remind you to also cancel with the provider directly.

propose_subscriptions

Stage one or more subscriptions found elsewhere (your email, for example) into your review queue. Nothing is tracked until you confirm.

confirm_subscription

Promote a staged suggestion into a real tracked subscription after you approve it in the conversation.

Nothing changes without you

The nine read tools are all a standard connection can use. The manage scope adds write tools, but the assistant still cannot delete subscriptions or access any billing or payment details. Every action it takes is one you asked for in the conversation. Every connection, whether OAuth or PAT, is scoped to exactly one workspace and can be revoked instantly from Settings.
